Be Careful With Sick Notes Issued by Questionnaire
Some providers issue certificates purely on the basis of an online questionnaire, without a doctor ever speaking to you. In court such certificates carry no evidential value and can cost you your job.
That is why here there is always a real video consultation with a doctor licensed in Germany.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Will my employer accept the certificate?
- Yes. The certificate issued by a private practice is the proof provided for in section 5 (1) of the German Continued Remuneration Act (Entgeltfortzahlungsgesetz) and applies to people with statutory insurance as well. You receive it as a PDF and submit it directly to your employer. Labour courts have expressly recognised private video sick notes.
- For how long can a certificate be issued?
- The doctor decides the duration individually with you during the consultation, according to what is medically justified. A backdated start is possible too: if you have already been ill for a few days, the certificate can begin on the day the symptoms started.
- Which symptoms are treated?
- Acute symptoms that can be assessed in a conversation, for example colds and flu, stomach and bowel problems, headache or back pain, bladder infection, period pain and hay fever. If your concern is not among them, raise it during the appointment; the doctor assesses every case individually.
- What if I am ill for longer?
- Then simply book another appointment. The doctor reassesses how things have developed during the consultation and, if it is medically justified, issues a further certificate.
- What does it cost and how is it billed?
- The consultation usually costs €49.99, including a written medical report after the conversation. Billing is private, under the German scale of fees for doctors (GOÄ); you receive an invoice listing the individual fee items. Privately insured patients and civil servants with Beihilfe are usually reimbursed by their insurer; statutory health insurance does not reimburse.
